In Florence, in Piazza Donatello is situated the Monumental English Cemetery.
This graveyard was built outside the city walls and here rest some important personalities related to Dante: Joseph Garrow, for example, who first translated the “Vita nova” into English; Elizabeth Barrett Browning, a woman of great culture and passionate about Dante; Robert Davidsohn who wrote a splendid history of medieval Florence; the Russian wife of Domenico Comparetti, a scholar of medieval Virgil; Adolfo Mussafia, scholar of Dante’s master, Brunetto Latini, and the wife of Kudrjacev, the Russian scholar of Dante.
