Helen McCory appeared alongside husband Damian Lewis on Good Morning Britain in what was the Peaky Blinders star’s final TV appearance.  Damian announced on Friday that Helen had died aged 52, from cancer. The news came as a huge shock to fans, as her diagnosis had been kept secret.   Helen showed her quick wit on the ITV show filmed six weeks before her death, where she and Damian spoke about their Prince’s Trust charity work.  Host Kate Garraway asked Helen if she was alright when Helen’s voice croaked midway through the interview.  “You sound a bit croaky, have you got a sore throat?” Kate asked.  A grinning Helen, who played Shelby family matriarch Polly in Peaky Blinders, responded: “I’ve got children!”  Husband Damian broke the news of his wife’s death on Twitter.  The Band of Brothers star posted this statement: “I’m heartbroken to announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family.  “She died as she lived, Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.”  Helen’s Peaky Blinders co-star Cillian Murphy has also paid tribute to her.   The Irish actor described Helen, who also appeared in The Queen and the Harry Potter films, as a “beautiful, caring, funny compassionate human being”.
